Nasser's Tackle FEFSI
Nasser starts talking about world cinema and south Indian cinema. He speaks on how Madras presidency was the hub for all south Indian film industries and later each film industry started filming of their capitals. "IT IS A healthy development but for several years after it FEFSI still had the authority of adjusting the wage problems with other states. I still remember how if a Telugu film may have an issue Kollywood flicks here used to return to a standstill & I DO NOT know the way that's fair", he recalls.
"Tamil cinema alone didn't get a separate body or even after other states got their workers' unions TN still had FEFSI - a south Indian body. Speaking in a balanced manner problems have aroused several times from either side because of the hasty decisions taken", he further adds.
Nasser further has it that there are several problems from three years and that the sooner TFPC council hadn't solved it citing various reasons that has resulted in this. He also cites that a workers body need to be more defined and an individual drawing a salary in lakhs and another in hundreds can't be represented by the similar union.
"How can directors who're regarded as workers' head represent workers in FEFSI, previously VC Guhanathan and Balachander have represented FEFSI," he further questions.
"Tamil cinema's biggest curse is political intervention, whenever there is a new party heading the state you wish to take a look at the best way Tamil cinema stumbles. In case you are good at your work why do you bow down for a specific party? FEFSI Vijayan, who was the top of FEFSI at a time when it oversaw four states, openly expressed his affinity towards a party, how's it even relevant?" he adds.
