Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman was honoured with another recognition on Saturday (May 5) night, as he was presented with an honorary doctorate from Miami University.
In his address, the ace music talent said he had never imagined the united states President and his family sending him personally signed invitations to return over to the White House, getting a visa to return to the US, not to mention coming over to share his love and music with Miami University and likewise getting his first American honorary doctorate
"I need to thank a couple of individuals who have made an important impact in my life: My mom and dad have anchored me with good values; then Mani Ratnam who's India's noted film maker gave me my first break on this planet of cinema within the film Roja," Rahman said.
He added: "My Sufi teachers opened my consciousness and helped me discover myself. People from throughout India have embraced me and my music with none discrimination and today, I LOCATE the similar spirit of acceptance in Hollywood."
