Income Tax raids happened in Chiranjeevi's son-in-law's Chennai residence on Friday and Saturday (May 11 and 12). Vishnu Prasad's residence and business firms were raided on these two days. Both Vishnu's and his father Siva Prasad's residences saw a raid.
During the raid several incriminated documents and cartons of money was seized. It's said that 35 cartons with currency were seized from Vishnu's residence and that the money was hidden in a shop room. The money value is touted to be around 35 crore rupees. The worth of the valuables, cash and documents can be disclosed shortly by the IT department.
Buzz is that Chiranjeevi stored the money in his daughter's house to make use of them through the by-elections. However, the actor-turned-politician has squashed them as baseless rumors. "These channels are attempting to malign me. Its baseless talk! The IT raids were a part of the raids on Vishnu's uncle Nandagopal's residences. If there are any illegal transactions the IT department will talk about it. IT'S NOT THAT I AM connected with this issue!"
Vishnu Prasad is married to Chiranjeevi's elder daughter Sushmita.
