Vettai Mannan satellite rights – STRs highest! Exclusive

Silambarasan is back to Chennai and the way! The actor's high voltage gangster flick 'Vettai Mannan' is garnering great expectations and the most recent is that the film's satellite rights has been snapped for a record price of 6 whooping crores!

Although it hasn't been confirmed of which television channel has bagged the rights, sources within the industry express that the Sun TV has bagged this film's satellite rights for six crore rupees.

This is the top ever for a STR starrer, beating his earlier record of Rs 5 crore for 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya' and Rs 5.5 crore for 'Osthi'. This implies there is a rapid increase within the satellite rights of STR's films meaning he's now considered a bankable star by TV channels and there is a bigger small screen marketplace for him.

STR was running from pillar to post for the recording of his pet project, a music album titled 'Love Anthem For World Peace and after two months of labor in it he's back to Chennai and immediately started work on 'Vettai Mannan' and a few comic sequences featuring him and VTV Ganesh was canned. Scenes featuring him and Hansika can be shot today.

The movie is directed by debutant Nelson and has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja who has delivered several hits with Simbu aka STR within the past.

Rajini croons for Kochadaiyaan!

Rajinikanth who has already wowed his millions of his fans by singing a song in 'Mannan', that goes 'Adikuthu Kuliru...' with S Janaki, has donned the cap of a singer again, this time to the tunes of AR Rahman!

The song is claimed to has been recorded recently and is claimed to be within the lines of 'Thendralodu Udan Piranthaal...' from 'Raja Raja Cholan', which was crooned by the ace Sivaji Ganesan.

This brings back the voice of Superstar in a track after two long decades for 'Mannan' released within the early 1990s.

'Kochadaiyaan' a 3D film is helmed by Soundarya Ashwin and has first-class technicians from all around the country. It's touted to peer Rajini in two roles, as father and son and a few birdies further have it that while Shobana is paired with the daddy role, Deepika Padukone is the woman love of the other.

Chennai Super Kings 2012 Anthem

It is IPL Season 5 and as Chennai is gearing as much as cheer their leaders and CSK headed by MS Dhoni, singers Srimathumitha and Charulatha Mani have get a hold of a peppy track. Singer Mukesh has joined the duo on this fast number. The music video have been shot already and can be released soon.

The duo have written, composed and crooned a track for the Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2012 that's called the Chennai Super Kings 2012 Anthem - Machi Song! It's indeed the season for anthems in K-town.

"This special number is our dedication to the CSK team. We're huge fans of cricket and our CSK team so we came up with this tag line - Machi Naangellam Un Katchi, Indha IPL La CSK Aatchi. It is a peppy number in local kuthu style and is bound to rock the city", says a visual excited Srimathumitha.

Adds Charulatha Mani of 'Chillax...' fame, "The success of our Why this kolaveri da - Angel song for angel girls motivated us to return up with this Machi song. Within the west female singers like Shakira have done Waka Waka... extending their support for events like FIFA but here the idea that of female singers composing and arising with singles is a rarity. We're glad to have done the CSK song".

Deiva Thirumagal in Osaka Film Festival

Accolades and demanding acclaim poured in from far and wide for 'Deiva Thirumagal', a Chiyaan Vikram starrer. Now, the film could be enjoying the distinguished Osaka Film Festival in Japan. Will probably be christened 'God's Own Child' and can be featured with English subtitles.

Chiyaan Vikram and AL Vijay can be leaving to Osaka today, March 14. The film could be showcased within the competition section together with nine other films from all around the world.

Featuring Vikram as an adult with the mental maturity of a six-year old, the film also has Baby Sara, Anushka Shetty, Amala Paul and Santhanam in supporting roles with music by GV Prakash. Maddy dines with Suriya – Jo

Actor Madhavan who has taken a break from films visited the Sivakumars for dinner recently. The actor dined together with his ad commercial co-star Suriya and 'Priyamana Thozhi' & 'Dum Dum Dum' co-star Jyothika, probably the most hottest and most adored couples in K-town.

He wrote on his microblogging page, "Had a groovy dinner at my dear bro Surya's and Jo's fabulous home in Chennai. Was so nostalgic meeting up with them. This kind of lovely family".

Maddy is understood for the charmer in him and making friends with all his co-stars, his multi-starrer films and the rapport he shares together with his co-actors stand testimony to this. On March 11, Maddy caught up with the duo at their residence in Adyar.

He is currently on a six month break and can be undergoing surgery for his knee problem. Although Maddy was reportedly approached to reprise the unique role he did in 'Vettai' for the Hindi remake, he expressed his health issues and neither confirmed nor denied his presence within the film.

His latest offering, 'Jodi Breakers' with Bipasha Basu is seeing an even response.

ARM to remake Thupaki in Hindi?

AR Murugadoss, the pan Indian director that he is, is as per reports taking his magnum opus with Ilayathalapathy Vijay, 'Thupaki' to the North besides! If industry insiders are to be believed Akshay Kumar will reprise Vijay's role on this remake and a hunt is on for the lead lady.

Akshay Kumar is touted to have given his consent to be part of this project where he's going to be playing an encounter specialist, despite the 'n' collection of scripts which might be already lined up for him.

Ever since AR Murugadoss delivered blockbuster 'Ghajini' in Hindi with Aamir Khan and Asin (Suriya played lead in original) in 2008, several first class actors was eyeing him. He even won a few awards for his remake and has a few scripts lined up with the King Khan, Shahrukh Khan within the near future.

'Thupaki' featuring Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal within the lead roles is a high voltage action entertainer that still has no dearth for comedy with Sathyan on board, sentiment, romance and drama. It's some of the eagerly awaited films this year and Vijay could be seen in a suave new avatar.

Ranbir Kapoor in Yavarum Nalam directors next

Vikram Kumar made his directorial debut in Bollywood in 2009 with Madhavan-Neetu Chandra supernatural thriller '13B' which went directly to make superb impression on the box office. The film was simultaneously made in Tamil as 'Yavarum Nalam' and was nominated for Vijay Award for Best Story, Screenplay Writer. Now the helmer is hoping to recreate the success story along with his second Hindi outing where he has roped within the B-town's heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor!

Buzz is that Vikram goes to remake of his own Telugu film 'Ishq' which released last month and was well received by the audience in addition to critics. So with confidence in hand the director is about out to bring the Hindi version of it.

"I was offered an opportunity to remake the similar in Hindi, and that i approached Ranbir Kapoor for it. He agreed to work with me at the film, and is now checking out his dates. I'm yet to finalize the heroine and the remainder of the forged and crew," he said in an interview.

A family entertainer, the Telugu film 'Ishq' starred Nitin, Nithya Menen of 'Veppam' and '180' fame and Sindhu Tolani within the lead.

Podaa Podi nearing completion

Silambarasan's long pending 'Podaa Podi' that went on floors in 2009 is nearing its completion. The team might be leaving to Macau for a ten-day schedule that features a song shoot and with it the shooting of this dance musical may be wrapped.

The dance musical is helmed with Vignesh Shivan who recently came up with a proof for the film's delay. 'Podaa Podi is a movie that sees Simbu and Varalakshmi in three phases of life. Thus this film after all takes more time to wrap than usual flicks. The film is entirely being shot in London and we require to shoot it only during a selected season because the script demands it', says Vignesh.

The helmer also vouches that 'Podaa Podi' will rise STR to superstardom. The film marks the debut of Varalakshmi Sarathkumar in Tamil cinema and has Shobana in a pivotal role. Music is by Dharan and a teaser from the film, 'Love panlama venama...' is already popular.

Post this STR has gangster flick 'Vettai Mannan' and a project with director Vetrimaaran except for his international music album Love Anthem For World Peace of course.

Mugamoodi on fast track

Now that the strike in Kollywood is over, after an amicable solution over wages was arrived at within the talks between producers and workers, shootings have resumed and lots of films are fast taking shape. One amongst them is 'Mugamoodi'.

With Jiiva playing the role of a superman, the movie directed by Mysskin is being shot with none break, it's learnt. "Initially there have been plans to move for breaks between shooting schedules. Now they've been scrapped," sources say.

Being produced by UTV Motion Pictures, plans are directly to release 'Mugamoodi' for summer, to profit from the holiday. "Because children and kids will enjoy this sort of superhero subject, that is new to Tamil cinema," add sources.

Jiiva is wearing unique attire on this film. The movie is anticipated to be at the lines of Superman, Spiderman and Batman, the superhero characters of Hollywood, that are enjoyed world wide. 'Mugamoodi' is being made on a lavish budget.

Now, Ajith inspires Ganesh

That numerous young actors have set Ajith as their role model and admire the Thala so much is an open secret in these parts. The newest addition to the list, which has names like STR, Jai and Bharath, is Ganesh Venkatraman.

The actor of 'Unnaipol Oruvan' and 'Abhiyum Naanum' fame recently met Ajith in Mumbai and describes it as a enlightening experience. "Thala shared his experiences from the time he was a budding experience. His life is a lesson for everyone," Ganesh says.

The up and coming actor, who spent nearly five hours with Ajith, says, "Ajith sir told me: 'Ganesh, always do what you prefer and what makes you happy, satisfied. That is the only secret to make you successful in life'."

Showering rich laurels on Ajith, Ganesh says, "HE'S a very good human being, who's so right down to earth. I knew him for greater than four years. He welcomed me to the film industry once I made my debut in Abhiyum Naanum and encouraged me a lot."

Story of Srikanths next

Kollywood stories often resemble real life incidents. Srikanth's upcoming film 'Ethiri Enn 3' is one such film. The movie revolves around bank robbery and there are some encounter scenes too, says its director Ramkumar.

But he calls it a sheer coincidence. "THE TALE was conceived a protracted back and we started the shooting last year itself. The film is set how an intelligent youngster is trapped by robbers. There are some pulsating encounter sequences as well."

Poonam Bhajwa is playing Srikanth's love interest on this movie, which has veteran Prabhu doing a very powerful character. "The shooting is nearing completion and now we have plans to release the movie soon," adds the director.

Besides 'Ethiri Enn 3', Srikanth is currently busy with a movie titled 'Paagan'. Also, the 'Nanban' actor is committed to do a few projects in Tollywood and Mollywood.

Snehas director is a singer too

From Saturday last, the shooting of 'Haridas', a movie directed by G N R Kumaravelan with Kishore and Sneha playing the lead roles, is happening in a quick track. "THAT IS my first story. But circumstances made me to direct Ninaithaley Inikkum and Yuvan Yuvathi," the director says.

Besides wielding the megaphone, Kumaravelan has also turned a singer with 'Haridas'. "Usually my movies have many songs. But Haridas has only three numbers and i've crooned for one in every of them. It was a captivating experience," he says.

Quite like 'Ninaithaley Inikkum' and 'Yuvan Yuvathi', Kumaravelan's pal Vijay Antony is the music composer of 'Haridas'. "It was way to his encouragement I became a singer on this movie," the filmmaker says.

Rathnavelu is the cinematographer of 'Haridas'. Throwing light at the film's story, Kumaravelan says, "FOR EVERY and each child, his/her father is the primary hero. That is the fundamental knot of the script. A SPECIAL treatment was given to the screenplay."

Reemma enters wedlock

Sunday (March 11) turned out to be a unforgettable day for Reemma Sen, for the 'Minnalae' actress entered wedlock with Delhi-based entrepreneur Shiv Karan Singh. She tied the knot in a standard Punjabi wedding in Delhi on Sunday,

Reemma and Shiv have known one another for greater than a year and so they met through common friends. The actress will now relocate to Delhi, but will continue donning the greasepaint, for she has two films up for release.

"I will continue doing good characters. Besides Gangs of Wasseypur and a movie by Rahul Dholakia which I'M currently part of, I'VE also got a few other offers. I'M at the present reading scripts and can take a choice soon," she says.

According to reports, the reception and cocktails, which followed after the wedding, had mobile bars. Reemma wore a fantastic lehenga for her reception designed by her favourite designer Sabyasachi. From Kollywood, Shriya Saran, Sonia Agarwal and Lissy Priyadarshan attended the marriage, it's said.

Kushboo to not attend UN meet

In a sudden turn of events, Kushboo is probably not attending a conclave being organised by the United Nations in Nairobi on March 15. She is going to stay at home to deal with her mother-in-law, who's undergoing a surgery across the same time.

"It is actually unfortunate that i'm unable to wait the conference. But what to do? Family comes first to me always and i've to appear after my mom-in-law. I'VE mailed the UN, expressing my inability to wait the event," she says.

The actress-turned-politician adds: "I'M sure that I MAY get such opportunities sooner or later. But I'VE just one mother-in-law and that i feel it as my inevitable duty to offer her moral support at this point of time. I REALLY LIKE her a lot."

Kushboo, who was actively campaigning for the DMK candidate within the Sankarankovil by-election, has also cut-short her campaigning plan and returned to Chennnai after the surgery date was fixed suddenly. The actress is married to director Sundar C and is mother of 2 girl children.
